Courage: The Art of Risking Failure

June 8, 2022 — 10:30-11:45 a.m.

Courage, for Kevin Vallely, means acting despite fear. In his multimedia presentation, he discusses how being courageous is not a fixed attribute that we’re born with, but rather a skill that can be learned, strengthened, and practised. Individuals and teams need courage to innovate, and they need courage to push past perceived boundaries and accept failure in the pursuit of excellence. Being courageous is not about being a risk-taker, but rather a risk mitigator. Vallely describes through his own personal experience how, just like building a muscle, courage can be grown. Being courageous will not guarantee success, but achieving success is impossible without courage.
